FemCheck (Infectious Disease)

What is STI?

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a major public health problem caused by pathogens acquired and transmitted by sexual activity. Their impact is greatest in women, unborn children and neonates.  STIs caused asymptomatic infection, particularly in women, which can nevertheless still be transmitted and result in complications such as infertility, ectopic pregnancies, upper genital tract infections and even acquisition of HIV.

Diagnostic test is the key to treatment and prevention of STIs. It helps to diagnose typical cases, and also atypical, asymptomatic and multiple infections.

What is FemCheck?

FemCheck is a highly sensitive, PCR-based diagnostic test designed to detect the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in women.

With just one test, FemCheck can identify:

  • Chlamydia trachomatis

  • Neisseria gonorrhoeae

  • Trichomonas vaginalis

  • Ureaplasma urealyticum

  • Ureaplasma parvum

  • Mycoplasma hominis

  • Mycoplasma genitalium

Benefits of FemCheck
  • Accurate & Reliable – Uses PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technology for precise detection.
  • Comprehensive – Detects multiple common STIs in a single test.
  • Early Intervention – Identifies infections even when no symptoms are present.
  • Better Reproductive Health – Helps prevent complications such as infertility and pregnancy-related risks.

FAQ

Why should I get tested for STIs if I don’t have symptoms?

Many STIs are silent (asymptomatic), especially in women. Even without symptoms, infections can:

  • Spread to sexual partners

  • Cause complications like infertility, ectopic pregnancy, and pelvic infections

  • Increase the risk of acquiring HIV

Getting tested ensures early treatment and helps protect your reproductive health.

FemCheck uses PCR technology, which is highly sensitive and specific. This allows accurate detection of infections, even if symptoms are absent or if the infection is at an early stage.

You may benefit from FemCheck if you are:

  • Sexually active

  • Experiencing unusual vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, or discomfort

  • Planning a pregnancy or currently pregnant

  • At higher risk of STIs (e.g., multiple partners, partner with known STI)
